THE PERFECT BASE FOR RIDING, HIKING, FISHING & PHOTOGRAPHY
On the shores of Lago Lácar is the picturesque mountain town of San Martin de los Andes, named after Argentina’s liberator from the Spanish, José de San Martin, the mountain town is the gateway to the Lanín National Park.
La Casa de Eugenia was built in the 1920s and is a characterful and very traditional B&B, set a view blocks back from the lake. It has an envious position, being down a quiet side road allowing guests to experience the tranquillity of the lake district, but equally only being a short walk to the centre of town.
There are just nine rooms, each with private bathrooms, but decorated to maintain the period character of the property. Antique furniture and soft tones give La Casa de Eugenia a welcoming feel and this homely style is found throughout the B&B. Whether it is enjoying a game of chess in the lounge or making yourself comfortable with a glass of wine around the fire place, guests are encouraged to feel at home.
There is no restaurant, but you’re only a short walk from a variety of options in town. A continental breakfast is served in the garden room, which has the feel of a tea room in the Cotswolds and is where an afternoon tea takes place each day, with a variety of homemade pastries and locally produced jams.
