Made up of three characterful townhouses, the property was originally built in the early 19th century. Following a tasteful restoration that preserved much of the original architecture, the Soniat House re-opened its doors to the public with 30 individually designed rooms. Each is a refined, high-ceilinged pastel haven fitted with elegant canopy beds, fine objets d’art and European furnishings, with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light.

Step out of the hotel and you’ll find yourself on historic Chartres Street in the midst of art galleries and antique stores, with the delights of Bourbon and Frenchman Street a mere stroll away. Before you head out, you can enjoy a delicious breakfast of homemade buttermilk biscuits, Louisiana strawberry jam and freshly squeezed orange juice in the quiet courtyard. There is no on-site restaurant, but there is no shortage of enticing eateries to explore nearby.

“EXCELLENT SAFARI IN REMOTE ZAMBIA”

We had a wonderful safari experience in South Luangwa, Zambia this September. Despite a few unexpected setbacks behind the scenes, everything ran seamlessly for us. Our driver and guide were outstanding, and the standard of accommodation was truly first class.

“EVERY TRIP EXCELLENT – AND MORE TO COME”
I’ve been on several small group holidays with The Ultimate Travel Company and every one has been outstanding. My most recent trip in February was no exception – expertly organised, responsive to questions, and full of memorable experiences. The itineraries are well thought out, the hotels top-notch, and the group sizes just right. Their tour leaders are knowledgeable, supportive and great company. I haven’t looked elsewhere since discovering Ultimate – and I’m already planning my next.

“THREE HOLIDAYS IN AND STILL HIGHLY RECOMMEDED”
Dan Mills organised perfectly a challenging itinerary to incorporate a wedding we were attending in Kathmandu. A fantastic balance of trekking, rafting, safari, sightseeing and R&R. This was our third holiday with Ultimate Travel and we cannot recommend highly enough
