Tena Tena, South Luangwa, Zambia

Few places in Africa bring you into such close – almost casual – contact with wild animals and a huge selection of colourful birds. This is the genuine African bush safari experience with the emphasis on seeing game rather than spending precious hours searching for it.

At Tena Tena you stay in traditional – but accommodating – tents hidden in the bush. You can roll up the sides and watch elephant families from your bed. Down by the river you’ll find hippos in abundance. You can safari just a few kilometres and see all manner of game – including giraffe and leopard.

Other itinerary suggestions in Zambia

  • We have travelled with The Ultimate Travel Company six times, the most recent was to New Zealand last year. The trip was very well organised as usual, with excellent accommodation and a wide variety of experiences. Given our obvious satisfaction with Ultimate, we had booked to go to Australia with them this year but due to Covid this was unfortunately cancelled, Ultimate handled the situation very professionally and promptly refunded the whole of our deposit without any quibble. When travel becomes viable again we would definitely rebook with them.
