ABOUT THE ITINERARY
We are able to run climbs on any of the seven routes to Kilimanjaro’s summit, but a majority of our experiences will use the spectacular Rongai Route. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to know more about the route options and which would be best for you.
The Rongai Route for an ascent of Kilimanjaro is the only route approaching Kilimanjaro from the north, close to the Kenyan border. Though gaining popularity amongst climbers, Rongai has low traffic. It is the preferred route for those looking for an alternative to the crowded Marangu route
Although the scenery is not as varied as the western routes, Rongai makes up for this by passing through true wilderness areas for days before joining the Marangu route at Kibo camp. This route then descends down the Marangu route.
Physical effort at these rarefied altitudes is rewarded by breathtaking summit views, which on a clear day can extend as far north as Mount Kenya. The expedition has been graded ‘4’ as this is a walk and does not require any climbing or mountaineering skill. However, given the sustained altitude and quite steep terrain it is preferable that expedition members are experienced walkers (and fit!).
