SUNSHINE & CORAL COASTS
Fiji’s largest island and home to its bustling capital Nadi. Plus the aptly named Sunshine and Coral coasts. The luxury resort of Denarau Island. Historic villages, sweeping fields of sugar cane, imposing mountains…
Set out from Nadi (the locals pronounce it ‘Nandy’) the busy-but-interesting capital of Viti Levu and you’ll soon arrive at the exclusive resort of Denarau Island, with its marina lined with smart restaurants, cool bars and cafés. For island hoppers, Denarau is the starting place for trips to the smaller, more remote islands of Fiji, but if you decide to discover the main island before setting sail, a succession of treats await.
The Sunshine Coast has beaches and – as its name suggests – sunlight galore. Along the south west of the island, the Coral Coast offers divers one of the largest fringing reef systems in the world. Not to mention a stretch of hidden beaches, photogenic bays and dramatic rocky outcrops fully 50 miles long. Immaculately-kept villages like Viseisei are both charming and historic – the original settlers landed here and the villagers are still welcoming visitors on their luxury, tailor-made holidays to Fiji.
