Where in the world do travel journalists most want to go?

And guess which country came right on top of the wish list of places they would most like to revisit in 2014  if offered a free ticket to anywhere in the world? Australia. And who can blame them?

With its incredible of cosmopolitan cities, endless beaches, coral reefs, ancient culture, World Heritage rainforests, superb food and wine, luxurious hotels and hideaways, not to mention those ever-friendly, laid back Aussies, it has to rate as one of the most magnificent holiday destinations.

Never mind the professionals – most first timer visitors to Australia go back for at least one more bite of the cherry. More than 100 writers and editors took part from Simon Calder of The Independent to travel writer and TV presenter Ben Fogle, plus travel editors at publications such as the Mail on Sunday, The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, Tatler, The Daily Mirror, Lonely Planet and Wanderlust Magazine. Together they have a total number of 1769 years experience.
