A BOUTIQUE LODGE IN THE FRANSCHHOEK VALLEY
La Clé Lodge is located on a working vineyard in Franschhoek, surrounded by mountain scenery, orchards and the wider landscapes of South Africa’s Cape Winelands. Positioned just a short walk from the village centre, the lodge offers easy access to Franschhoek’s restaurants, galleries and wine estates while maintaining a quieter and more private atmosphere.
The lodge occupies a restored Cape Dutch-style farmhouse with interiors designed by Jacques Erasmus of Hemelhuijs, blending traditional architectural details with a more contemporary aesthetic. High ceilings, natural materials and flowing shared spaces create an atmosphere that feels closer to a private country home than a conventional hotel.

Accommodation is centred around five individually designed en-suite rooms arranged within the main lodge and set around gardens and a shared swimming pool. Several rooms look towards the surrounding vineyards and mountains, while the wider estate includes landscaped grounds, a tennis court and walking areas through the property.
In addition to the lodge, La Clé also offers a small collection of exclusive-use villas for families or groups seeking a more private stay. Located across the wider estate, these villas include private gardens and pools while retaining access to the services and experiences of the lodge.
Dining focuses on seasonal local produce and relaxed shared experiences, including picnic lunches, South African braais and wine-accompanied platters overlooking the vineyards. Franschhoek’s restaurants, wine estates and galleries are all easily accessible, while the surrounding valley also offers hiking, cycling and wine tasting experiences.
La Clé Lodge works particularly well for travellers looking for a smaller and more design-led stay in the Cape Winelands, combining village access with the atmosphere of a private estate.
