Occupying a beautifully preserved 18th century mansion on Brazil’s lush Costa Verde, Pousada do Sandi is a lovely hideaway full of historic charm.
Pousada do Sandi enjoys a prime location in the town’s cobbled colonial centre, and is a perennial favourite amongst visitors to the area thanks to its welcoming atmosphere. The hotel itself is delightfully small, with just 28 characterful rooms, suites and apartments decked out in bright colours, Brazilian artwork and modern luxuries. Double glazed windows and original shutters open up to garden or the bustling market street below.
The hotel is centred around a lush tropical courtyard and pool – a tranquil oasis to retreat to after a day exploring Paraty’s old colonial buildings or its surrounding Atlantic Forest. The 1960’s inspired Restaurante Pippo, which celebrates the cinema of that era, has a simple menu showcasing wonderful regional specialties. Restaurante Bom Jardi features a more diverse menu and a lively atmosphere with a guitar-playing musician.
