One of South America’s smallest countries, but one which packs the biggest punch, Ecuador is the perfect family destination and somewhere that can be visited year-round.
Its relatively small size compared to its neighbours hasn't stopped it packing in a huge amount of diversity within its borders. In just over two weeks you will explore historic towns, journey along the avenue of volcanoes, dive deep into the Amazon jungle, discover the cloud-forest and end in the enchanting islands of the Galapagos.
Staying in a variety of accommodation, from jungle lodges, to historic haciendas (working farms) before ending with a week sailing around the archipelago of the Galapagos, the itinerary has been designed for families with children of all ages in mind.
Whether you're travelling by dugout canoe in search of alligators and spider monkeys in the Amazon, on the lookout for condors and spectacled bears in the Andes or rapelling down a waterfall and riding with cowboys in the tropical lowlands of the country (both optional!), you will never be bored.
The holiday ends in possibly the most unique and magical wildlife destination on the planet, the Galapagos Islands. Spend a week on board a small expedition ship, snorkelling, kayaking and discovering the wildlife which Darwin first experienced nearly 200 years ago, before flying home.
Note: The itinerary can be shortened if necessary and if over budget, there are shorter and less costly boats in the Galapagos!
