ABOUT THE TOUR
This exhilarating tour is the perfect introduction to Iceland, ‘The Land of Fire and Ice’, encompassing not only the wonders of the island’s magnificent landscape and prodigious flora and fauna, but also the ancient Viking myth and legend that abounds here.
Following in the centuries-old footsteps of Icelandic travellers, our journey will carry us through some of the most spectacular scenery imaginable. From lush green valleys with roaring torrents to majestic snow-capped volcanos such as Eyjafjallajokull of ‘ash cloud’ infamy, plunging waterfalls, coastal cliffs, barren lava fields, black sand beaches and bubbling volcanic hot springs. We also explore the attractive capital, Reykjavik, with its brightly coloured rooftops and attractive harbour area.
Happily our visit to Iceland coincides with the time when a rich variety of birds, including puffins, gather on the wild sea cliffs. It is also the perfect time of year to view whale in the churning offshore waters.
