Amankora Gangtey Himalayan Lodge, Bhutan

Human visitors trek through upland meadows, quaint villages, forests and fields. Rare black-necked cranes, of course, simply fly in.

It’s known as the Gangtey Trek and it will take you on an unforgettable journey of breath-taking beauty, and interaction with local people and their culture. You will camp in the hilltop village of Gogona; sample homemade arra from a nearby hamlet; stroll past local coal mines and wood-cutters’ camps and experience one of the finest bird-watching areas on the whole of Bhutan. You may even spot the fabulous and rare black-necked cranes as they fly in on a seasonal visit.

And then – back at Amankora Gangtey – you can relax and enjoy the views of the little-visited Phobjikha Valley and 16th century Gangtey Goemba monastery.
