a unique ancestral manor house
Situated near Kandy lies the boutique villa of The Kandy House. More akin to a private home where personal service and attention to detail are of the highest order, this palatial Sri Lankan villa indulges every modern luxury.
Originally built for the last chief minister of Kandy, this 200-year-old manor still retains all of its former grandeur and captivating historical charm. With the treasures of the Cultural Triangle and Tea Country at your feet, it’s a great base from which to discover Sri Lanka.
The house is comprised of nine individually designed double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. Furnished with local fabrics, elegant furniture and modern amenities, each room has been named after a different type of butterfly, as these species thrive in Sri Lanka. Some rooms also have access to a private veranda furnished with chaise lounges and reading chairs.
In the gardens, you will find a hillside swimming pool with mesmerising views across the rice paddy fields. An Ambalama above the greenery provides a serene space for a massage or spa treatment. When it comes to dining, you will choose from a menu that includes both traditional ten-dish Sri Lankan curries and mouth-watering fusion dishes. Ingredients are sourced fresh from local markets.
