A bit about me:
I have worked in the industry, on and off, for over 30 years. I love to experience the different cultures around the world. I also love trying local specialities when travelling and picking up culinary tips.
My favourite place
Some of my favourite holidays have been in the USA. I love the diversity of the wild and wacky cities like Las Vegas, to the beauty of the National Parks and the historical sights, such as the old plantation homes in the south and the memorials in Washington.
My favourite hotel
Jamaica Inn is an iconic hotel that has welcomed people like Noel Coward when it opened its doors in the 50’s. The beach is stunning, the food great and the friendly service makes every stay one to remember.
My most memorable experience
Staying on a houseboat on Dal Lake in Kashmir. It was like taking a step back in time, so peaceful with wonderful food and views of the foothills of the Himalayas that were unsurpassed.
My top tips
- Don’t miss Peterhof Palace near St Petersburg in Russia – try to see it before mid October before the wonderful fountains are switched off for the winter.
- In Sicily hire a car for a few days so that you can experience the unspoilt lemon groves and vineyards.
- In Philadelphia be sure to visit Reading Terminal Market, it is a huge indoor food market where you can eat, sample or buy just about any sort of food.
