Since 1st January 2020, The Ultimate Travel Company has offset the carbon footprint created by its London office and staff. We also offset the thousands of flights we arrange for our clients each year.

Our carbon offsetting programme supports the planting of mangrove trees in Madagascar, a country that has lost 80% of its forests over the last century.

Mangroves are particularly effective because they grow quickly and can store up to four times as much carbon per acre as tropical rainforest. They also play an important role in protecting fragile coastlines from erosion and storm damage, while providing vital habitats for marine life. In fact, 75% of all tropical fish lay their eggs among mangrove roots.

The project also directly benefits local communities. The trees are planted by local people, creating employment and providing approximately 1,200 working days per year through our initiative alone.

We work closely with Offset Earth, who manage the project, and their partners in Madagascar, Eden Reforestation Projects, one of the leaders in their field with more than 20 years of experience.

While no single initiative can solve the environmental challenges facing our planet, we are proud to support a project that combines carbon capture, habitat restoration and local employment.

In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar, our clients responded with extraordinary generosity.

Together, we raised more than £16,000, with The Ultimate Travel Company matching every donation received.

The funds have supported the construction of two new classrooms at a monastic school in Sagaing, one of the regions most affected by the earthquake. The project will provide a safe and lasting learning environment for local children and stands as a testament to what can be achieved when our travelling community comes together to support a destination in need.

Donors have been recognised through a commemorative plaque at the school, creating a lasting reminder of the support provided by clients and friends of The Ultimate Travel Company during a time of great hardship. Read more about our Myanmar Earthquake Donation.

As Angola emerges as one of Africa’s most exciting and rewarding destinations, responsible tourism has an important role to play in supporting both conservation and local communities.

The HALO Trust has been working in Angola for more than 30 years, helping to clear landmines and explosive remnants of war so that communities, wildlife, and landscapes can thrive once again.
