Madikwe

Offering stunning wildlife sightings as well as being malaria-free

With a unique location on the edges of the Kalahari Desert, malaria-free Madikwe is blessed with a truly sensational landscape made for exploring. Track lions, elephants, rhino, leopards and some of the country’s rarest species without the crowds at better known reserves.

The Madikwe Game Reserve has for a long time been South Africa’s best kept secret. Once a desolate area this region was transformed between 1991 and 1997 when over 8,000 animals were moved into the reserve in a huge wildlife trans-location project. Today Madikwe offers stunning wildlife sightings as well as being malaria-free, making it a fantastic option for families and hassle-free safaris.

As well as the Big Five, this 75,000-hectare reserve is one of the best places to encounter some of Africa’s rarer species, including the elusive and endangered African wild dog. With fewer crowds at wildlife spots you can enjoy a more private and exclusive safari experience.

Situated on the border of Botswana the Madikwe Game Reserve is only a one-hour flight from Johannesburg. To experience a luxury and malaria-free safari in South Africa’s Madikwe Game Reserve get in contact with one of our team to start putting your trip together!
