Argentine Lake District

sensational natural scenery and endless outdoor activities

It’s no secret why Argentina’s Lake District is one of the country’s most popular travel destinations. The sensational natural scenery that fills the region exceeds all expectations, whilst a wide range of outdoor activities make it a favourite amongst adventure-seekers.

If you add the Lake District to your tailor-made holiday to Argentina, it is likely to be one of the most beautiful places you visit. In this picture-postcard region of snow-capped mountains, sparkling lakes, wildflower meadows and pristine national parks, one of the best things to do is just sit back and drink in the fabulous views.

In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the Lake District is a real adventure playground with a profusion of activities to try, with fishing, skiing, rafting, rock climbing and kayaking all popular.
Sitting beneath soaring mountain peaks on the shores of the beautiful Nahuel Huapi Lake, the town of Bariloche is at the heart of the Lake District. It has a charmingly alpine feel owing to the influences of Swiss, German and Italian settlers, and is filled with an abundance of chocolate shops, cafes and Swiss-style chalets.

Beyond Bariloche is the equally picturesque town of San Martin de los Andes, a must for keen skiers as well as horse riders with fantastic riding routes in the surrounding area. During the warmer months both towns make a great base for a variety of adventure sports.
