ABOUT THE ITINERARY
Before flying to Borneo you’ll spend a couple of nights in the modern, Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur where you’ll be able to tour splendid attractions like the Perdana Botanicals Gardens and colourful Thean Hou Temple.
Your Borneo adventure then begins in earnest with a flight to Sandakan. Enjoy visits to the celebrated Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre before making a boat journey to Sukau Rainforest Lodge. Set on the banks of the Kinabatangan River, this will be your base for excursions in search of orangutans, proboscis monkeys, Borneo pygmy elephants and countless birds. Your journey then ends with a few days relaxation on the white sand beach to the north of Kota Kinabalu.

KUALA LUMPUR
Arrive in the glamorous Malaysian city of Kuala Lumpur. You’ll be warmly met upon arrival and transferred to the historic Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
From the gleaming Petronas Twin Towers to the bustling Central Market, shopping hotspots and superb museums, this dynamic city has much to offer. Take a guided tour and discover attractions like the Heritage Railway Station and atmospheric Thean Hou Temple. Don’t miss out on the beautiful Perdana Botanical Gardens where you’ll find countless species of vibrant orchids and other exotic plants.

SANDAKAN
This morning you’ll fly to Sandakan in Borneo and be taken to your nature resort on the edge of the rainforest. The resort is within easy reach of the celebrated Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary which works to rehabilitate injured and orphaned orangutans.
Stay: One night in a Chalet at MY Nature Resort – including breakfast and dinner
KINABATANGAN RIVER
Today you’ll visit the famous Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre where you’ll be able to watch rescued orangutans up close as they feed, sleep and play. You also have time to visit the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre before hopping on a boat which will take you along Malaysia’s second longest river to Sukau Rainforest Lodge.
This award-winning lodge sits on the banks of the Kinabatangan River, a mighty waterway which supports a plethora of rare and unusual wildlife. The surrounding natural rainforest is the unspoilt habitat of orangutans, proboscis monkeys, Borneo pygmy elephants and huge numbers of exotic birds. Enjoy river cruises in search of the region’s spectacular wildlife, as well as night safaris to spot some of the more elusive, nocturnal animals.

KOTA KINABALU
On day seven you’ll board a boat back to Sandakan and then catch a flight to Kota Kinabalu, otherwise known as KK to the locals. You’ll be transferred to your luxury resort set on beautiful Pantai Dalit Beach, framed by 400 acres of green forest. You’ll be able to head out into the nature reserve search of orangutans as well as hornbills, peacocks and bearcats.
Alternatively, take some time out in the spa or keep busy with the range of water sports available at your doorstep – including deep sea fishing, jet skiing, parasailing and ocean kayaking. An entire day of beach lazing is equally inviting.

FLY HOME
Today you depart for Kuala Lumpur where you will take your onward flight home.
