Raffles Singapore is one of the city’s best-known hotels, opened in 1887 and set on Beach Road, close to the Civic District, Marina Bay and the museums, galleries and shops around City Hall. Long Bar is associated with the Singapore Sling, created at the hotel in 1915, while Tiffin Room continues the property’s long connection with North Indian cuisine. The hotel’s newer dining concepts add a more contemporary layer, including 1887 by André, a 42-seat restaurant named after the hotel’s founding year and conceptualised by Chef Patron André Chiang. Designed by Bill Bensley, the restaurant takes inspiration from tropical glasshouses, the hotel’s architecture and Singapore’s position as a meeting point of cultures. Its Taste of Time menu brings together French culinary foundations, Singaporean influences and references to the hotel’s past.
Elsewhere, guests have access to Raffles Spa, a fitness centre, an outdoor pool, gardens, boutiques and the restaurants and bars of Raffles Arcade. The hotel is well placed for exploring Singapore, whether as a stopover, the start or end of a longer journey, or a city stay in its own right. Changi Airport is usually around 20 minutes away by road, subject to traffic.
