Day 1: Check into the Southern Cross Hotel in Dunedin, New Zealand.
Day 2: Depart for Port of Otago to board the Spirit of Enderby.
Visit the Snares Island by Zodiac to view vast colonies of nesting seabirds.
Cruise the Auckland Islands with their amazing plant life and rare Hooker’s sea lions.
Spend this ‘at sea’ day listening to fascinated biology and history lectures. Visit Masquarie Island with its millions of penguins and elephant seals.
Day 9 – 12: Voyage closer to the Ross Sea area, spotting drifting ice bergs.
Day 13 – 21: Explore the famous Ross Sea region with its original explorers’ shelters, modern research establishments, astonishing landscapes and wonderful wildlife. Walk in the footsteps of Scott and Shackleton. Visit the world’s largest ice shelf and prepare to be astonished by Mt Erebus with its towering, active volcano crater.
Take part in lectures as you sail towards Campbell Island. See the Hooker’s sea lions of Campbell Island and climb to the hilltop breeding sites of southern royal albatrosses.
Disembark at Port of Bluff, Invercargill for your homeward transfers.
