Experience unrivalled game viewing in two of Zambia’s greatest wildlife sanctuaries, basing yourself at Time + Tide’s luxurious, immersive and perfectly positioned camps.

The first portion of your safari will be spent exploring the fabled South Luangwa National Park, an enormous expanse of classic bush country where outstanding walking safaris, rewarding bird watching and world-class predator sightings are the order of the day. Here you’ll be ideally situated by a year-round lagoon at the wonderfully remote Time + Tide Luwi.

Next, you’ll be transferred to Chongwe Camp, an elegant property set against a stunning mountain backdrop in the Lower Zambezi. In this unspoiled wilderness, you can expect to find huge herds of elephants and rivers packed with hippo and crocodile. Activities range from classic game drives and tiger fishing to more tranquil canoe rides on the meandering Zambezi River.

Day 1-4 London - South Luangwa
London - South Luangwa

Arrive in Lusaka, you will board a scheduled light aircraft flight to Mfuwe, followed by a road transfer to your authentic camp overlooking a permanent oxbow lagoon deep within the South Luangwa National Park.

Hailed as the birthplace of the walking safari, on-foot excursions are still the best way of experiencing the South Luangwa and its tranquil rivers, ancient forests and open pans. Alongside Luwi’s experienced guides, you’ll traverse this scenic wilderness in search of lion, leopard, spotted hyena, wild dog, roan antelopes and elephant, as well endemic species like Thornicroft’s giraffe and Crawshay’s zebra. Birdwatchers should look out for hundreds of unique species including yellow-billed storks, carmine bee-eaters, herons and egrets.

Day and night game drives are also on the menu, whilst the camp’s wildlife hide is the perfect spot to observe resident hippos and other wildlife wallowing in the lagoon. You’ll also have the opportunity to sleep out under the stars to complete your ultimate safari experience.

Stay: Four nights at Time + Tide Luwi – full board

Day 5-7 Lower Zambezi National Park
Lower Zambezi National Park

Today you’ll journey from one iconic Zambian wilderness to another. Flying to Lusaka and then to the Lower Zambezi, you’ll find your camp beautifully situated at the confluence of two rivers. Set under a canopy of Albida thorns, elephants are frequent visitors at Time + Tide Chongwe, whilst crocodiles and hippos bask on the riverbank.

You couldn’t be better positioned for exploring the Lower Zambezi National Park, a pristine and picturesque wilderness teeming with elephants, who can often be seen here in large herds, as well as impala, lion, leopard, zebra and waterbuck. The park also supports a rich birdlife, particularly along the riverbanks, with nearly 400 species recorded. Enjoy three nights of exceptional game viewing, with Chongwe’s seasoned guides leading day and night drives, guided bush walks, tiger fishing excursions and boat cruises along the tranquil Zambezi River.

Stay: Three nights at Time + Tide Chongwe – full board
