Day 1-6 London - South Luangwa
London - South Luangwa

Your journey begins with a flight from London to Lusaka via Johannesburg. From Lusaka, you will board a scheduled light aircraft flight to Mfuwe, followed by a road transfer to your luxury camp within the iconic South Luangwa National Park. Time + Tide Chimzombo is superbly positioned on a sweeping bend of the Luangwa River in one of the park’s most prolific game areas.

Alongside Chinzombo’s experienced guides, you’ll traverse this scenic landscape, with its oxbow lagoons and alluvial floodplains, to find lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, wild dogs and elephants, as well endemic species like the Thornicroft’s giraffe and Crawshay’s zebra. Birdwatchers can keep an eye out for hundreds of unique species including yellow-billed storks, carmine bee-eaters, herons and egrets.

The region is hailed as the birthplace of the walking safari, and on-foot excursions are still the best way of experiencing the area’s smaller species and indigenous plants, with game drives and canoe safaris also available.

Stay: Six nights in a classic tent at Time + Tide Chinzombo – full board

Day 7-8 Lower Zambezi National Park
Lower Zambezi National Park

Today you move from one great wilderness to another. You’ll be transferred to the Lower Zambezi National Park and your safari camp beautifully situated at the confluence of two rivers. Set under a canopy of Albida thorns, elephants are frequent visitors at Chongwe and can often be seen wandering about camp, with crocodiles and pods of hippo basking on the riverbank.

You couldn’t be better positioned for exploring the Lower Zambezi region, a pristine and picturesque wilderness teeming with elephants – who can often be seen in large herds –  as well as impala, lion, leopard, zebra and waterbuck. The park also supports a rich birdlife, particularly along the riverbanks, with nearly 400 different species recorded. You’ll enjoy three nights of exceptional game viewing, with Chongwe’s seasoned guides leading day and night drives, guided bush walks, tiger fishing excursions and boat safaris along the tranquil Zambezi River.
