ABOUT THE ITINERARY
This Classic itinerary will take you from Entebbe to the remote Kibale Forest in the Bunyaruguru Crater region. A scenic wilderness where you’ll be able to track chimpanzees, observe colobus monkeys and glimpse exotic birds as they flit through the trees.
Queen Elizabeth National Park continues the theme of wildlife-rich yet visitor-scarce landscapes, where the main attractions include tree climbing lions, vast herds of Ugandan kob and wonderful views of the Rwenzori Mountains. But one of the high points of your safari has to be meeting gorillas – the gentle giants of the evocatively-named Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
DESIGNED BY SPECIALISTS
Bear in mind, these are just a starting point as all holidays are customised to the specific requirements of our guests. Whether you prefer a different style of accommodation, a greater focus on a particular interest or to go to a different destination all together, every itinerary is created individually around your preferences.
KIBALE FOREST
Your adventure in the ‘Cradle of the Nile’ begins. Once landed in Kasese Airport, you’ll be taken to Ndali Lodge to relax after your travels, swim in an inviting pool and soak up beautiful views over the volcanic landscape and Rwenzori Mountains beyond.
At Ndali Lodge you’ll be excellently based for visits to Kibale Forest National Park – home to a fabulous display of wildlife including Africa’s largest population of chimpanzees. Alongside qualified guides, you’ll track these playful primates as they swing through the forest canopy. Observing them play, eat and forage at close quarters is a wonderful experience. You’ll also discover the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary where you’ll find red colobus monkeys, sitatunga antelope and countless butterflies. Bird watchers can expect to discover a range of species, including the impressive great blue turaco, whilst visits to local community projects will appeal to just about everyone.
Stay: Three nights at Ndali Lodge – full board
QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
From the outstanding Kibale Forest area you’ll be driven to an eco-lodge perched high above the Kyambura Gorge, providing magnificent views over Queen Elizabeth National Park.
During your stay you’ll take boat trips along the Kazinga Channel to see the wildlife that basks on the banks and come down to drink. You’ll track chimps in the amazing Kalinzu Forest with an experienced guide and embark on community walks to meet local people. Early morning and afternoon game drives also offer you a chance to photograph lions, leopards, great herds of Ugandan kob and hundreds of colourful birds.
Stay: Three nights at Kyambura Gorge Lodge – full board
BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST
Today you set off into gorilla country as your safari takes you into the primeval Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Along the way, you’ll be able to see tree-climbing lions and appreciate the magnificent passing countryside – some of it making for rugged travelling! Your accommodation is comfortable though; you’ll be staying in the only luxury lodge in Bwindi National Park, with unbroken views of the towering forest and river.
Naturally, meeting gorillas in the wild is the main reason for visiting Bwindi. After an early breakfast, you’ll set off through the dense forest in search of these gentle giants. An encounter with a silverback is indeed thrilling, but the park has other attractions too. The birdlife is wonderful and the flora of the forest fascinating.
