ABOUT THE ITINERARY
In Kenya, in Laikipia and the Masai Mara you’ll be surrounded by great herds of elephants, giraffe and zebras. You’ll see prides of lion stalking their prey or basking in the shade of thorn trees. You’ll sleep in luxury safari tents and gain a real insight into life on the plains of Africa.
Then you’ll plunge into a different sort of wildlife habitat, in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. On Mahe, in the Seychelles, you’ll snorkel with turtles, reef fish and octopus – and even spot whale sharks. Or simply laze on a pristine white beach.
DESIGNED BY SPECIALISTS
Bear in mind, these are just a starting point as all holidays are customised to the specific requirements of our guests. Whether you prefer a different style of accommodation, a greater focus on a particular interest or to go to a different destination all together, every itinerary is created individually around your preferences.
NAIROBI
Landing in Kenya’s capital, you’ll be warmly welcomed and driven to your hotel.
Stay: One night in a deluxe room at Ole Sereni – bed and breakfast
LAIKIPIA
From Wilson Airport you’ll take a scheduled light aircraft flight to Nanyuki. From the landing strip you’ll be taken by your guide to Kicheche Laikipia. Now your Kenyan adventure really begins as you venture out to see the game of the 90,000 acre Ol Pejeta Conservancy – known to be the home of Kenya’s largest number of black rhino, as well as elephants, cheetah, lion and leopards. And the animals they prey on.
You’ll go on interpretive game walks to understand the eco-system in depth, take part in a lion-tracking programme and visit a chimpanzee sanctuary for orphaned babies. At night you’ll be sleeping under canvas in a comfortable safari tent.
Stay: Three nights in a safari tent in Kicheche Laikipia – full board
MASAI MARA
Now it’s time to move onto the Masai Mara, one of the most revered game-watching locations in the world. You’ll be staying in a traditional-style safari camp bordering the National Reserve, in the Mara North Conservancy. Game viewing begins in the camp itself as the wildlife roams past, but early morning and evening drives will take you to see a host of wild animals in their natural habitat. Equally as interesting are visits to local Masai villages, complete with interpretative talks from a local guide to give you a real insight into their traditional way of life.
Stay: Three nights in a double tent in Kicheche Mara Camp – full board
NAIROBI
Now a different sort of travel experience awaits on the bustling streets of Nairobi – Kenya’s busy capital. You can immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, shopping and sightseeing of the city – or visit the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage – before retiring for an evening of calm relaxation at a luxurious hotel recreated from a private mansion, surrounded by 2½ acres of tranquil tropical gardens. Speciality of the house is a superbly prepared and cooked traditional Kenyan dinner.
Stay: One night in a standard room at the House of Waine – bed and breakfast
MAHE ISLAND, SEYCHELLES
Fly to the island of Mahe; a drop of utter perfection cast onto the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. There are no less than 68 beaches to explore on the island, and you’ll be able to spend days lazing in the sun, listening to the gentle waves of the ocean – or taking a marine safari to see multi-coloured reef fish, octopus, lobsters, turtles and even whale shark. Away from the beach you can explore Mahe’s capital Victoria; an amiable city with excellent shopping and sightseeing, plus botanical gardens, an orchid house and fascinating local markets.
Stay: Five nights at Constance Ephelia
