You’ll begin in French-themed Montreal, with its irresistible restaurants, historic quarter and views from the Montreal Observatory Tower. You’ll move on to the capital Ottawa, with its World Heritage-listed canal before venturing into the Yukon to see the astounding Aurora Borealis and go dog sledding and snowshoeing across the mighty wilderness. Then you’ll fly into Vancouver where a seaplane tour will show you razor-backed mountains, hanging glaciers and eye-widening Vancouver Harbour.
London – Montreal
Your direct flight from London takes you to Montreal where you’ll be met and driven in a SUV limousine to your luxury hotel in the heart of the city’s downtown district. Known as the Golden Mile, this area is a great starting place for exploring Montreal and your tour will reveal over 200 points of interest, including Old Montreal, City Hall, Place Jacques Cartier and Notre Dame Basilica. You can choose to climb the Montreal Observatory Tower for a truly photogenic, panoramic view of the downtown area and river. The Saint Joseph Oratory with its dome towering to 97 meters is also worth visiting.
Stay: Two nights in a signature room at the Ritz Carlton Hotel Montreal.
From Montreal station a scenic train journey will take you to the Capital City of Ottawa. Once again you’ll be met and taken to your hotel in an SUV limo. The Fairmont Chateau Laurier is one of the city’s landmarks and you’ll be minutes away from the Parliament buildings, the Ottawa Convention Centre, the National Art Gallery and the Museum of Civilization.
You’ll also have plenty of time to enjoy the city, exploring Ottawa’s diverse cultures, eating in French restaurants, bistros and cafés, shopping in the buzzing Byward Market area or strolling along the frozen Rideau Canal, a World Heritage listed waterway. You may choose to skate along the canal or you could even call into an English-style pub for a pint.
Stay: Three nights in a Fairmont view room at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier Hotel.
Fly from Ottawa to Whitehorse and you’ll enter a different wold – you’ll be exchanging sophisticated city streets for the wilderness of the Yukon. A driver will collect you from the airport and take you to your hotel, where you’ll be ideally placed to witness one of the planet’s greatest spectacles; the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights.
But the Aurora is not the only attraction at the resort. You’ll be able to go dog sledding across the Yukon wilderness and take a guided snowshoe tour across fantastic landscapes. Snowmobiling and fishing in crystal clear lakes are also on the agenda, but there’s plenty of scope for being pampered in the resort’s spa or relaxing in the Jacuzzi and sauna.
Stay: Three nights in a private deluxe cabin in the Northern Lights Resort & Spa.
Fly into Vancouver and you’re back in civilisation. A chauffeur will meet you at the airport and take you to your luxury hotel. You’ll have time to take in some of Vancouver’s attractions – the Aquarium, Science World and Treetops Adventure for example – or take an open bus tour around the city.
The following day is another highlight. You’ll board a seaplane at West Coast Air Terminal and take off for an absolutely spectacular tour of Vancouver Harbour and onwards to the fabulous Hanging Glaciers and breath-taking, knife-edged ridges of the 600 m high Mount Mamquam.
Stay: Two nights in a deluxe king room in the Rosewood Hotel Georgia.
